HELP US
HELP THEM

Volunteers are the heart of CCAT  Join us to find YOUR JOY!

Here are just a few ways you can help

Urgently Needed:

Transportation,  AM

1-2 hrs every  Wednesday

This individual will be responsible for picking up cats at our care facility and delivering them to the correct clinic for TRVR appointments.

The morning deliveries

usually take place between 7:30 -930 AM.  The distance from the holding facility is usually less than 2 blocks (Columbia Animal Shelter), however other facilities may be used and can be as far away as 10 miles.

The volume of cats will vary from 2-8.  Multiple transporters may be needed for the higher volume of cats.  You do not need to stay once the cats have been delivered.

This person will not be handling the cats directly, just moving the cats in the traps from building to clinic.

Trapper
3-4 hrs per day, two consecutive days, 1 week per month (6-8 hrs total)

This is a community facing position.  This individual will be assigned a location and will work with a Master Trapper during this session.

They may be asked to connect with the cat community manager before trapping to create a bond with the manager,.  You will convey when you will be on the property, encourage the manager to discuss the uniqueness of their colony.

On the days of trapping, you will pick up the required number of traps and food from our care facility, set the trap at the location and monitor the activity.  When a cat is trapped you will cover the trap immediately, ensure the trap exits are secure, and then remove the cat from the premises and transport them to our care facility

At the end of the evening you will communicate with the community manager how many cats have been removed, when and if you will be returning the following day, and when they can expect the cats to be returned.

Training will be provided, experience is helpful, but not necessary.  This individual will be under the supervision of a Master Trapper. You will not open the traps.  Bedding changes, as well as food and water for the cats will be provided by the Master Trapper.

Housekeeping

1-2  hrs, 1 time per month (2 hrs total)

This individual is responsible for resetting the care facility after TNVR clinic on the 4th week per month., Thursday afternoon.

Cleaning tasks will include cleaning and spraying the traps with disinfectants, mop the floor and tarp with cleaner, wash the feeding bowls, and remove all trash and replace trash cans with clean trash bags.

This individual will also keep track of the inventory needed, and notify the treasurer when purchases are needed.  Inventory includes dry and canned food,  bedding pads, newspaper, trap covers and paper towels.

We realize this is not the most glamorous job, but it is one of the most important and rewarding.  Without proper sanitation the CCAT team would not be able to service as many cats as we do.  This individual is considered a “prince or princess” among our team members.

Additional Opportunities

Transportation,  PM

1-2 hrs every  Wednesday

The volume of cats will vary from 2 -8.

CCAT will provide samples and supplies to make the items, indicate the quantity needed, and when they should be finished.

Once completed, this individual will notify the event coordinator, and he/she will pick up the items prior to the event.

WHAT IS TNVR?

The Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) program is a humane strategy aimed at managing an unowned cat population. This process involves trapping stray cats, spaying or neutering them to prevent further reproduction, vaccinating them against common diseases, and then returning them to their original habitats.

TNVR is crucial because it helps reduce the number of homeless cats, improves their health, and decreases the overall strain on local animal shelters. By controlling cat populations in a humane way, communities can create a healthier environment for both the cats and the residents.
